She is an amazing teacher that has a heart of gold. She challenges her students everyday, but always makes sure the kids be themselves. Mrs. Winkler makes learning fun &amp;amp; guides their learning while allowing them to explore all their options. Her can do attitude is something her students feed off of. The parents at Putnam City Central Elementary are blessed to have a teacher like Mrs. Winkler teaching their children. After 23 years of Head of Schools &amp;amp; over 30 at St. Mary's she is retiring after the 2012-2013 school year. Many families have been fortunate to have their children be part of this dynamic, loving &amp;amp; super nurturing family. Parents believe that Mrs. Hetherington's leadership &amp;amp; devotion flows straight from her heart through the teachers &amp;amp; into every child that has ever walked through the shool's doors. All of the parents wish her all the blessings she deserves as she continues down life's road. In doing so, she has found avenues of learning that work for each child. She has established an enviroment of respect, comfort &amp;amp; peace which enables her children to focus on the subject she is teaching. Miss G's students grow academically &amp;amp; in character. Teacher at Council Grove Elementary School in the Western Heights district goes far above &amp;amp; beyond the role of a teacher. She organizes fundraising events &amp;amp; by that we mean she sets up &amp;amp; tears down. She organizes a Santa Store for the kids, various Bingo &amp;amp; Carnival nights as well as Silent Auctions. She even volunteered to organize a track meet that was a tradition &amp;amp; was going to be discontinued but she stepped up &amp;amp; took on the responsibility of running it, so the tradition would live on. She even single handedly sets up &amp;amp; runs SUPER KIDS Day for the students every year. Miss Melissa Smith we thank you for stepping up &amp;amp; doing whatever it takes to get the job done for our students, their parents &amp;amp; your co-workers. Mrs. Heard is a dedicated teacher who blends a deep knowledge of Math &amp;amp; Religion with a passion for helping students learn. She's also a former NASA scientist, so her MATH students are Uber LUCKY! She puts in time with every student who needs it, to the point that she often eats during her breaks so she can work one on on with the kids at lunch. In addition to being a great resource for students, Mrs. Heard is a leader among our faculty. If you need an extra hand she's your woman. The Classen Jazz band has won outstanding awards since he has been the director, &amp;amp; often gets the chance to perform outside of the school setting for pay. He challenges the kids to work above what they think they can do, &amp;amp; thus the fabulous sound is the product of his genius. You'll never hear parents ecpress anything but praise for Mr. Irons.
