But even at the time that I was in the best shape of my life, I couldn't run long distances to save my life! (As my friend says, &amp;#8220;I only run if I'm being chased!&amp;#8221;) Well, this year I'm biting the bullet! I've signed up for the Oklahoma City Memorial Half-Marathon! (Not crazy enough yet to do the full-marathon. 13.1 miles is enough for now.)
So I've been training by myself for the last few months using a college track, an old pair of tennis shoes, and a few strength training exercises that I was taught back when I could afford a gym membership. The funny thing is that I feel better now than I ever did after any session at the gym! And the work-out is free!
