Pioneer Library System’s Big Read BOLD BOOK TALK
Friday, March 14 @ 6:30 p.m. at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art @ OU This is an evening that could be described as “Bold talk for a one-eyed fat man..."  by TRUE GRIT outlaw, Ned Pepper. This year’s Big Read book discussion is bold with a mix of art, music and literature at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art @ OU. This year's Big Read scholars gather with us and enjoy live music beginning at 6:30 p.m. while we browse a newly opened Allen Houser exhibit never before on display. The discussion is 7 to 8 p.m. with more music and art until 8:30 p.m. Copies of TRUE GRIT by Charles Portis will be available to attendees, free, while they last. This event is being presented as part of the museum's Art a la Carte program in conjunction with the Norman Art Council's Second Friday Circuit of Art.

PLS True Grit FREE Movie @ Warren Theatre in Moore
March 27 @ 6:30 p.m. See the 2010 Cohen brothers' screenplay of True Grit by Charles Portis starring Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon. There will also be a costume contest, prizes and a premier screening of The True True Grit Documentary produced by University of Oklahoma Video and Media Services. The documentary explores the Oklahoma locations in the book which were filmed out of state in both movie versions. Register to attend and be entered to win a drawing that evening for framed western art. Limited seating is also available at the door. Come in costume for fun. Norman’s 89er Day Parade Themed ‘True Grit’
April 12 @ 10:30 Norman’s 89er Day Parade celebrates Norman’s founding on the anniversary of the land run of 1889. It has been in existence since 1984, has an expected 85 entries. Will begin at Comanche Street and travel west toward Flood. The reviewing stand will be right at the end of the parade. The Wild West Crew will travel on to the fairgrounds along with the wagon train and horses (roundup clubs).

Family Fun Fair @ the Fairgrounds
April 12 @ 11:30 a.m. (after the 89er Day parade) until 2 p.m. (beginning of the Wild West Show) After the parade, bring the family to the Fun Fair at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. Step back in time and enjoy free, family activities recreating the bygone era of True Grit. Game booths with prizes, exhibits, demonstrations, performances, costumed characters are all part of the fair until the Pawnee Bill’s Original Wild West Show at  2 p.m. in the fairgrounds arena.

Pawnee Bill’s Original Wild West Show
April 12 @ 2 p.m. @ Cleveland County Fairgrounds Experience an authentic recreation of Pawnee Bill's original Wild West Show. Transport yourself back in time to the Old West and witness trick roping, trick shooting trick riding, and more. This show is based on stunts from the original Pawnee Bill's Wild West Show that toured the country and amazed spectators over 90 years ago. In the tradition of the original Pawnee Bill's Wild West Show the show cast will parade throughout downtown as part of the 89er Day parade. Generations past followed the show from railroad unloading sites to the arenas. Come to Pawnee Bill's Original Wild West Show, one of the longest-running, historically accurate shows of its kind, for a unique entertainment experience.

4/28 The Fourth Annual Bobwhite Scramble

The Fourth Annual Bobwhite Scramble, benefiting the Youth Programs of Central Oklahoma Quail Forever, will be held Monday, April 28, 2014 at River Oaks Golf Club. The tournament will have a shotgun start at 1pm, registration/check-in opens at 1130am. The cost is $125/player, $450/team ($115/player, $425/team before 4/7/14) and includes golf fees, dinner, awards, gift bag, and UNLIMITED DRINKS INCLUDING DOMESTIC BEER on the course. 4/28 Central Oklahoma Quail Forever

Central Oklahoma Quail Forever is a local, non-profit wildlife conservation organization. We will be hosting the Fourth Annual Bobwhite Scramble on April 28 at 1pm, at River Oaks Golf Club. Our golf tournament raises money that funds our youth outreach programs and events each year. Together with our major tournament sponsor, Access Sports, and many other generous sponsors and donors, we create a fun and memorable golf experience for our players and raise money that ultimately gets Oklahoma kids off their couches and into the outdoors. We are still accepting player registrations and would like to add our event to your calendar or possibly have the date announced on the air if you have any segments dedicated to local charitable events. 5/4 Third Annual Benefit Car, Cycle, and Crafts Show

We are hosting our third annual benefit car show on Sunday, MAY 4 from 1-6 PM. It is open to all cars, trucks, and motorcycles. All funds raised go to help our students go on their mission trip. The entry fee is $20. There are 24 classes and six best-in-shows. The first 50 people entries will receive a goody bag. There will be food, crafts, 50/50, and door prizes. 5/17 Indie Trunk Show

There is a newsworthy local event happening in OKC on May 17th at the state fairgrounds! This event has the potential to really boost local business sales, which improves our community. Indie Trunk Show OKC is all about the local crafters, artists, and businesses of Oklahoma! 9/6 Oklahoma Mustang Club Stampede

Oklahoma Mustang Club Stampede, held in conjuction with Mustang’s Western Days festivities. It will be held at the Mustang Town Center at 1201 N. Mustang Road, Mustang, OK Registration: 8 am-11 am with award ceremony at 3:00 pm The OMC Annual Stampede Car Show will be held at the Mustang Town Center at 1201 N. Mustang Road in Mustang OK. Registration opens at 8 am and closes at 11 am with awards presented at 3:00 pm. Save $5 by registering early (prior to September 3rd). We'll have a DJ for music, door prizes, and dash plaques along with a 50/50 pot. We have over 35 Open classes and that many Mustang classes too! Awards will be presented to 1st - 3rd place. 9/20 Car Show

Minco Little League Baseball is having a fund raiser car show on September the 20, 2014. It will be at Johnson Park in Minco Oklahoma. Registration is between 8-11 am judging between 11am-1pm trophies will be given out at 2pm. We are raising money to do some up grading on the bleachers and the ball fields. The classes are cars, trucks pre-50, 1951-1960, 1961-1970, 1971-1980, 1981-1990, 1991 to present, 4X4,special interest, Unfinished(must be in primer), rat rods, street rods, and low riders.
