ABOUT THE EVENT

This July, grab your family and friends for a show from the years that brought us the Internet, Discman’s and Kurt Cobain. The 90’s themed Summerland Tour will head to Grand Event Center located inside Grand Casino Hotel and Resort on July 12.

The Summerland Tour is a summer-long showcase of some of the biggest bands who helped define the 90’s. The bands scheduled this year are Soul Asylum, Eve 6, Spacehog, and Everclear.

Tickets start at $35 and are on sale now. Show begins at 7 p.m.

The tour was created by Everclear’s lead singer, Art Alexakis, and Sugar Ray’s front man, Mark McGrath for an ode to the decade that saw grunge and alternative rock music at its peak. Everclear, most known for their songs “Father of Mine” and “Santa Monica” were one of the breakthrough bands of the 90’s. Lead singer Alexakis and crew are in their third year of the summer long concert series and haven’t skipped a beat since the decade that brought them to fame.
The other bands set to grace the stage also contributed to the sound that defined the decade.

Eve 6 released their hit single “Inside Out” in the latter of the decade. The smooth lyrics from lead singer Max Collins still ring out from the radio today, forever landing them in top 90’s playlists.

Soul Asylum released their memorable music video for “Runaway Train,” earning them instant fame. The single released in 1993 and director for the music video, Tony Kaye, used Soul Asylum’s lyrics to develop an emotional plea of hope to missing youth. The video now has more than 18 million views on YouTube and has been changed into several different versions throughout the world.

English rock band Spacehog, formed in 1994, released their debut album, Resident Alien, in 1995. The album reached #1 on Billboard’s Heatseeker’s chart. The album featured their infamous #1 hit single, “In the Meantime.”
